Tournaments:
I most definitely do not have the current list of “active” TDs in my Discord. In fact including myself, there are only 9 present that can actually host tournaments.
Since I am capable of providing around $40 a month for tournaments (typically 2 tournaments publically funded) it’s a shame more people aren’t around to help out and give ideas. It really wouldn’t be hard for anyone to present ideas for 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments and get some cash for their ideas from FAF. Likewise, I’m willing to fund interesting tournamenys like keyser’s shared army tournament too.
If you want to help FAF out, this is a pretty relaxed way where you can make the workload as easy or hard as you’d like. Just join my Discord or PM me and I’ll add you to the team.
Trainers:
Not much to say here. I’ve updated the trainer list on the FAF Wiki Page and made it (hopefully) a lot easier for new players to navigate who they can talk to. The lack of inactive players also makes it easier for veteran players to feel confident linking this page to new players.
I’d like to thank some players for going above and beyond, most of all OxideIon who put in a great deal of effort to update a lot of the FAF wiki guides (including videos!) and he easily made me look like a bum sitting around doing nothing. Special mentions to Dog for his own guide as well. I also appreciate other trainers such as wtfnoob, endranii, and uteten for proactively helping people when they ask for assistance and not just sitting on their avatar.
Ladder:
We’ve got a map sheet of about 225 ladder capable maps with comments and ratings of the map. We rated maps on gameplay, variety of playable styles, and aesthetics. Likewise, we began discussing new ladder systems.
Special mentions here go to Petric who puts in a great deal of effort to make the pools include a wide array of gameplay variety, though Jagged, Mozart, and turin were also great assets in creating the pools/map lists. This also means you can blame petric for the bad maps but thank me for the good ones.
We’ve also begun discussing new ladder systems and how exactly we plan on presenting the options to the community. Currently we plan on having a small/medium/large/extra-large pool with all options including an option to veto. Of course, the veto quantity depends on the size of the pool. We also plan on introducing a “no-repeat” system regardless of the pool chosen. All of this will however not be possible until we get an individual willing to maintain the python client (or get ice up for a java migration) so if you really want a new ladder, it’s the dev side you should help out with.
Communications:
FlyingThunder has helped me out in refining the FAF Wiki, a pretty monumental task so if you want to help FAF out and put your uh very useful English degree to work, come join us on the Discord!
The other members of the communication team don’t do anything but demand their maps be in the ladder pool and make memes. But they’re still important!!!
Most of my future objectives will just revolve around continuing wiki development/ladder system/tournaments until something special comes along. If something does, I’ll be sure to update this thread.Statistics: Posted by FtXCommando — 22 Jul 2018, 05:14
