Regardless of the were, what and why, the simple fact is that people are being kicked for no reason or (as Pilot explained) for the wrong reasons. There are some very simple reasons to fix this:

Put the desired rating in the game name (I've seen this happening already so that's going well)
Offer a proper explanation to the kick. I've been kicked for no reason several times, if they'd give a reason, I would have left by myself and I'm sure everyone else would have done too

not really. This mostly ends in being upset about what some idiot players do. If we only play together we only can blame ourselves And we dont depend on other players who might be good players, but also might be idiotic players

So why not play against your mates once in a while and have some noobie team mates?
That might make for a more challenging and ultimately rewarding gaming experience.

I often play teamgames with mates, so you can call our teams "premade". Bad thing is, there are rarely premade opponent teams, so the only chance to make someone play us is to kick low level players. Otherwise the other players leave, as they already know that they will probably lose.

Definitely feel free to approach some of the old guard about improving your skills. Most of use are more than happy to either give you some tips, some tuition or even some games. Stay away from setons is my advice, as Anaryl pointed out they are a funny bunch. If you really want to hone your skills, play ranked that way the only person who's rating is affected is yours. You will learn much more about the game much faster as you have to master all aspects of the game without relying on team mates.

I got involved with FAF because of TA4Life's YouTube videos. However, because I've gone back to school, I haven't even started FA in well over two weeks. I'd like to get more games in, but I can't. That said, it's difficult to break into FAF because it does have a close-knit community of folks who have been playing since its release, and some even have been playing since Total Annihilation. It's going to be difficult for me to reach that level of play, but that doesn't discount the fact that TA4Life and Gowerly's videos both provide community awareness. Bringing more people to the community despite the players who take a draconian approach to their lobbies is better than having either of them not release anything to promote FAF. Like someone said earlier, the people who instantly kick lower ranked players are rare. A number of FA veterans are mostly willing to help newer people that I've seen by idling in FA Forever's chat. I would say to not let a few rotten apples spoil the bunch in this case.

They don't understand the meaning of the colors. Grey = Your rating start to make sense. Black = Don't bother read it.

Me and my buddy were kicked from a server today because our "ratings were gray".

I've played many many games of FA, just before FAF was a thing, and on my college internet I cannot connect to FAF games.

Sorry to see the playerbase is full of douchebags, guess I wasn't missing out.
