so...

just posted to say i was hooked on beta SC as soon as the awesome ones n zeros populated my hard drive.. awesome times.. still got the original disks in perfect condition.. oh the fun i've had through the years with supreme commander and FA.. "not sc2 though that sucked more balls than any other game i've owned but only because expectations were so high and the game was such a let down".

I loved the awards/avatar stuff in GPGNet that were accessible on all skill levels. Even as a beginner you were able to win your own category and gain reward for a some period. When ladder divisions were working in FAF, we had some of them too but not that much fun stuff to get.

Player Mielus is still playing FAF... i remember him leaving a comment to every his replay... it was pretty intersting to watch and keep in mind what he thought about game that he played...

I still do this in my spreadsheet and I still play like a noob making the same mistakes over and over again
The comments were before I watched the replay, sometimes I revised after watching the replay, awereness? nahh.

In gpg you could post different clickable links in chat. Can link mods, maps, maybe replays... at lest 4 different colours. Was very usefull when you needed write

Yeah the map world view ... I totally forgot about it ... I'll try to implemented it but this time on google map

I began also a tournament tool in alpha but I just put it aside since I had other more important features to work on. But hey thanks to pointing this out now

so sad it has been shut down so suddenly without even a warning

Furthermore there was a tool to handle tournaments. The TD was able to launch the game from an other player on map xy. And the tool provided a lot of information. The TD saw if the player is offline, afk or if there was a disconnect. Also it was a little bit bugged ^^ For example it could happen that you say player a plays against player b on blasted rocks but it wasn't blasted rocks at the end and they found each other on setons clutch. But the TD had also a function to stop all games. This was a nice feature if you are playing with a time limit.

Although I wasnt in the beta, I was there at SupCom release. I fondly remember that you could filter the ladder by geographical region (down to the state level). I might have been #34394 or whatever in the world, but I was #29 in my state, dammit. And that guy who was always one position above me, I'll surpass him one day!! >_<

Much more motivating than a simple global ladder. I was sad when that feature broke after FA.

Also I loved vanilla Mercy. I abused that so hard. And noone was able to do it to me, because I was extremely conscious of it
And I miss being able to completely move, resize and customize every element of your GUI...

In GPGnet you had ability to rate and comment replays, that made finding games to cast 20 times easyer, and good replays, especially lower rated, didn't dissapear into nothingness. There also was gobal chart for most commented, best rated, and most downloaded replays, you could surely view top 10 replays in each category and all of them would be amazing (except maybe most downloaded category, since people donwload them to find out why someone esle downloaded them)
all of those replays were amazing. We really need this for FAF ( also being able to view old replays without decync...)

ps. caster could just see recent 10 out of 10 replays, or 8 out of 10... instead of watching them all or waiting for submissions.

Yeah it wasn't possible to win a game with aeon as mongoose and hoplites were more then op ^^
