Just for public information; I agreed in private with FtX that we would not publicly disclose his moderation history or further grounds for our original decision.

Such a publication would be a futile exercise in proving the ballistic properties of excrement, and would further nothing.

I'm going to close this topic in light of how the situation has been resolved.

No existing developer has a fragile ego. The ones with fragile egos were driven away by this community in a matter of weeks. They're already gone.

It's almost become a meme at this point that every time someone has to criticise a developer or councilor with a fragile ego it has to be padded with 7 layers of 'we recognise your contributions to the FAF community'.

A few council meetings ago (or was it a contributor meeting?) I proposed that there should be a regular council (re-)election and I can't remember that anyone disagreed. I think we communicated this, too. And I think we even specified that it will happen 2 times a year (but only 1/2 of the positions at a time). It would start after we get the voting app ready (which we now have).

Therefore, I expect the first council (re-)election going to happen before the end of the year and then you'll all have the chance to finally get rid of that horrible elitist council and replace it with a much better one.

Or you could actively help to improve the situation by *contributing* instead of playing blame games, all day long.

After all, we (the council) are still humans investing hours and hours of our free time into FAF. And guess what, we all *do* have more important things to do in our lives, yet we spend hours discussing the election process, talk to people, building a voting system and trying to find good solutions for a healthy FAF.

Sometimes I wonder why we do that if instead, we could just dictate? It would be much more time-efficient. After all, we're in our "ivy tower" and nobody can hurt us. And no matter what we do or how we do it, there is always going to be a 10 pages long forum discussion about it. So why bother? We really *are* stupid.

I do get that some of you are not satisfied with how things are going and yes, I agree that there is room for improvement. I also agree that it's important to discuss and improve. But keep in mind how much time and energy this costs, which could be invested elsewhere, and ask yourself if it is justified.

Once in a while, you guys could try focusing on the positive. I've hardly ever seen anyone saying "thank you" for what's being done, but as soon as there's an opportunity to criticize, everyone has something to say. Don't be surprised if at some point FAF dies again because whoever is running it, just had enough.

It's not quite on subject but as this thread is called "Council Abuse" and you were discussing about the council not communicating properly i wanted to bring this up. As far as I know every council meeting happens behind huge walls. No one is allowed to listen, there are no recordings and no transcripts. FAF is in its nature at the current point a democratic community. Developement (contributor) conferences are being recorded already. Maybe we should just try to establish more clear communication between council and player base or even (as I'd suggest) provide recordings or transcripts of council meetings. There is currently no way of knowing how or why a "shady" council decision was made. If you had communicated more clearly there would have been no point of accusing you of cherry picking candidates.

Pretty sure I'm the oldest candidate in the election, unless ponny is over 21. Age of adulthood in Australia is 18 but in the US I might be the only real adult. Not like it means anything in my opinion.

A lot of prior issues come down to differences in vernacular that I could hardly expect a foreigner to fathom. But as ice(?) said in the application thread, bridges have foundations on both sides.

The faf standard, I suppose. My verdict on if this places the council into the dark is forthcoming. But I think it will be a case of a few ruining it for the whole.

You should have anticipated a heavy bias towards well written english and made a plan to offset your supposed dyslexia beforehand. Here are two options I thought up on the spot: it's however too late for either.
1. employ a person(s) to check your text before posting
2. Locate a typeface that helps with people with your condidtion and prewrite posts in a software that supports the typeface.

Honestly I feel really bad for ftx for the amount of passion and effort he put into this. My first vote was going to be sid(2500 rated and lots of map experience) and second for ftx(has had a lot of training under farms).

But now that both are banned I will be voting for picoo and no one else. Picoo is extremely mature for his age and his voice and things he does are so cute, I just love him soooooooooo much!! <3

Another mod that I have seen show weak character is JJ. There are a lot of phony mods suppressing their true selves. I would rate him a 6 out philip(10) in terms of that. I would give ftx maybe a 4 but he is quite bad at suppressing.

I am so shocked by philip that I would not feel comfortable being in a plane with him. You never know when he suddenly explodes and for example opens the side window hatch on the plane so everyone flies out the window.

In my previous posts you would think that I do not support ftx type people for mod and that is true. But if these other people are setting the standard then ftx DEFINITELY deserves to have a shot. We need a training program maybe to teach these people on how to be normal human beings, like I am sure philip or white knight like what they do, but they need training.

I think biggest problem people have with council is that youre hiding everything and not letting players that arent in it have any say about anything, and only let people in who other council members want whether community would want someone else (like proven in ftx's case here) like youre some super secret government organization and not a community-run video game client. At least I do. Like why all the dam secrecy? Afraid someones gonna steal something and counterattack your country? This is a video game not a nuclear reactor, people should know whats going on all the time and everything in council should be visible to its community straight away.

After all the reason this thread was created is because information was held from public.

Everyone knows ftx and biass are not fit for the job in terms of maturity. The only excuse ftx has is that philip and a majority of the lower tier mods have major maturity issues. Philip is way more toxic than ftx ever was in any game, especially setons, yet no one reports him. whereas ftx is more in jest and sjw triggering but still can be quite mean. philip is just pure hate, and I am not being quick to judge -- I am really good at judging people's character no matter how much they want to hide it.

The only active mods/Councillors that I would consider nice but more importantly normal people are voodoo, tex, sheoo, giebmasse, tokyto, jagged appliance and exotic retard. A lot of the lower tier mods should never become real mods just like philip because they are toxic and breed hate in the community. eg. wiseolddog or white knight, they are fake, I can sense people that lack moral compass no matter how much they want to hide it.

sheoo doing a great job. People that have a weak moral compass will just go with majority. Who cares if all these people cry just do what is right.

If you want a job the minimum you need to do is get on with those you will be working with. And they need to be convinced of that. Otherwise everyone gets upset and nothing is achieved. It's not a difficult concept.

To be absolutely clear, my post on page 4 was just my own, personal response. For the sake of clarity and truthfulness, I wanted the full account of my own journey through the PC vote to be up, from my own mouth. It should go some way to showing that minds were actually changed, council members open to being wrong about initial suspicions, and that there is no grand conspiracy. The council is not, as some might have you believe, a group of oppressive individuals hell-bent on preserving some ill-gotten power, just a collection of people. Humans, doing their best. For me, it meant an unpleasant experience of backing someone who ultimately forced my position to change to the negative.

The entire community deserved that account to be told in full, in my opinion, so I told it.

Just throwing my thoughts out there, so far Sheeo and JJ have been the most constructive in taking accountability and tanking the issues here with reasonable confidence as to help with damage control. If I had to say any better the council should be getting together on a focal point in their defense, because while icedreamer is making a fair stance on his own behalf, some of these scattered remarks of the council with some other side-show performers are taking to ladling this issue with more salt than a real professional (mature?) response to the concerns here.

Let me make it clear, when you initially posted your application we had decided to let you run for the election along with the other applicants who have moderation histories, in spite of the PC vote having historically excluded such applicants by default.
