The system is there as an award for achieving things (in game or around it). So, no personal icons or recompenses for just being there.

IF we can get personal icon's that would be amazing, however, also chaotic, I don't expect to have 1-2 people custom make about 1000 icons. Maybe tourney winners can request their own icon. that would be cool. And as far as having top of ladder for all the different mods, considering we only have about 10-20 people who consistently ladder on 1 vs 1, i think that idea will end up splitting that already small laddering group even further, but that goes into a whole new balance/community thread.
But, as far as ladder and global goes, if possible a generic
Top 1 Ladder 1 vs 1
Top 10 Ladder 1 vs 1
Top 25 Ladder 1 vs 1
Top 1 Global
Top 10 Global
Top 25 Global
Idea would be cool. Maybe also a few.... personality ones for the oh so special people we all know and love on faf.

I'm currently about to edit some of the good old GPGnet Avatars to fit the FAF requirements.
I'm sure some old once will fit in well. However, add new once should be fine as well

Btw: Even if I made some of the GPGnet Avatars, its far away from be the "most"
And I think I'm not the only one who can move some (already countable) Pixels

( you did not bring ideas but just said what was bad...)

also i said #1 to #3 on the 1v1 ladder should be golden because (as you might have noticed), i prefer to give different colors depending where you got the avatar from
golden from ladder, silver from tourneys, blue for development stuff, red/purple for mods, ...

And nothing against Zeps hard work but the avatars really look not good If there need to be more avatars pm Koecher.He made most of the cool GPGnet avatars and should really continue here.

i like these ideas. but really important should be that a tool tip appears when the mouse pointer hovers over the avatar. this way the special avatars are self explanatory.

but please include a description of how anybody could get this avatar, if it is not as simple as "leader of the global ladder". this way people could get motivated to become a tester or mod developer...

as the majority of players might have noticed, FAF recently got an avatar system
a huge thank you to Zep at this point, although it's probably not finished yet

in this topic, i want to gather suggestions and opinions about avatars:
-> for which achievement to get? (explain if it's not obvious)
-> how should it look?

please don't post if you just criticize another post, bring your own ideas and maybe even pictures, but please post avatar lists only when they're structured

i just start a list here and will add / delete avatars based on your suggestions later

current list

1v1 ladder
> 1. in the ladder should get a golden '1'
> 2. in the ladder should get a golden '2'
> 3. in the ladder should get a golden '3'
(all golden because (imo) 1v1 ladder is where your own skill is most important)

global ladder
> 1. in the global ladder should have a golden earth avatar

other ladders (in future?)
(as some players demanded a blackops ladder, and it might come...as other ladders too)
> 1. in the blackops ladder
> 1. in the phantomx ladder
> 1. in the kingofthehill ladder
> 1. in the nomads ladder (when released)
> 1. in the labwars ladder
> 1. in the civiliandefense ladder
( i only listed the mods which change gameplay and not units yet, and just because i listed these doesn't mean they come or the ladders for these mods will be created, it's just a suggestion)

helping FAF / the FAF team
> moderator: the current moderator avatar (white hand on red background) looks fine imo
> forum moderator (if/when there will be some), same avatar as moderator, just a purple background
> admin: maybe the same one as moderator, just a golden background
> map creators: a blue earth (not for just editing a single map, for editing alot of them or creating completely new and own maps)
> featured mod creators: a blue gear-wheel
> other development stuff which is beneficial to the community (e.g. creating themes)
> testers: for those who are at testing duty for the balance change mod, the nomads etc
> bughunters: for those who provide help hunting/fixing bugs and enable a smooth-running lobby
