I'm looking this topic as it's going on loop again. (that must be the fourth time that I close this kind of topic I think).

If you want a 3599 mod, stop talking about it and do it.

This is indeed a solution.

I agree 36XX is for new peoples very good, you won't die at the first mistake. An soft introduction in the world of FA in ladder.

But not suited for teamed game or experimented player this is too much nerved. the strategies become too poor (in comparaison with 3599) there is no surprise anymore you don't play in the fear and questioning yourself what is my opponent preparing ... You may say this can always be done, this is right but the other strategies are so expensive that you won't do it. You will go the safe side and doing always the same ...

A spiritual successor of the 3599 a unleashed patch will make this game so great !!!

diversity in faction and in strategy !!!

3599 was littered with issues, and the quibbles over whats worse in the current patch are minor compared those. I feel like the opposition to new patching isn't because they are necessarily better or worse, but because they are new.

Instead of making a 3599 mod, why don't you make a 3700 mod where you take the current improvements in balance and tweak other things that you consider to be worse. I don't think anyone would have an issue with that, in fact it would be great to see people constructively pursuing improvements to the game rather than just saying how much better everything used to be.

EDIT: the discussion is SO OLD that we need some fresh solutions so this was defenitly not offtopic, getting the players to the point the game is atm, is the main idea of Ze_Pilot when he says no more patched in close future

But pushing a new patch - and not tested or barely - every two days is really not something I want to do if I was going to do something in the future.

And what you described is what was in place, it did not worked.

If a new patch appears, it will be because of the work on the community, not mine.

But I still can not understand why a balance mod is needed to make changes? Isn't it possible to make small changes step by step and confront the players with that... that's it. You may start a small team of good players who are able to work together and work on these balance changes...That was my main statement from my previous post.

And if I would be asked how to call the "balance mod" (if you want to keep that up)- I would call it "beta test v3621" or something equal because more people understand the word "beta". But this would only help really for getting "newcomers" into the testing "team"... which is maybe not really wanted?!

BR and nice weekend!
I hope my nooby proposals are a bit welcome ;)

OK that was undisguised trolling  , but it makes me "laugh" that we're back to the same old debate all the time hehe.

To reply to what Zep said : What the game needs is players. Therefore, what's good for the game is what people want, at least what the vas majority choses. I know it's debatable because people are ,hmm, "funky", but it still makes some sense I think.

I guess you could narrow the target of people that should vote with consideration of their experience (# of games and rating) but that poll system would have to be moved to FAF interface, not a forum obviously. Remember that everyone is on FAF, not on forums.

That's probably the worst idea to do it. Polls can't help balance, because people will vote for what they hate/love, not what is actually good for the game.

I'm quite unhappy how discussions between you guys about balancing will be done so far. It would be so nice, if you could find a way to implement at least a monthly change or something. You are the pros... you have to say in which direction the game has to go. But since several weeks one can only read big discussions without any outcome :-( thats sad.

Why isn't it possible to confront the community with new balance changes in a monthly base? In the mid of a month one could make a poll if the changes are good, or not (or discuss it). And at the end of the month the changes will be reset or improved with a new patch... polls could be implemented into the FAF lobby (maybe)- to get feedback easily.
If someone don't like the change or don't like changes at all, he should leave and play another (maybe unsupported) game... that's my opinion... I would also leave if the game turns into a really bad direction for a long time.
haha :) ...and nobody would be interested If I leave ... another new player would take my place and enjoy the game from a virgin point of view.

Are you afraid to lose too much (good) people due to regular changes or what is the issue concretely? Here are so much good people ... vote a team of 7 guys who discuss internally about balancing and DO this changes on a regular base... don't discuss so much with all the people (including me :-p). Take the feedback if feedback is coming after a patch is out and improve it if the number of negative feedback is far more than 3 guys...
