If the game is already downloaded on stem, then it will always be on there. Even if it is deleted from your pc you can just download it again.

Just to confirm, I already have my previously and working steam game in my drive. If I re-install Steam and it prompts me to 'Install' the game again and I click 'Install', it won't erase my existing copy? Thanks.

ofc NOT! just put your steam folder on an external hdd or a second internal hdd, install your OS and install steam again. Say steam it should be installed over the folder where your backup is stored (if you want you can put it back on C: before) ... after this start steam and it will automatically download and check all files that are missing maybe. All your games are still available than.

there is somewhere a "check games app" but ofc if you reinstall my pc you have to download again

I'm trying to trace down an issue with my PC and I might have to re-image my OS. Is there a way to re-install the steam version of FA without having to download it (all 5+ GB of it ) every time I do an re-install?

I'm having trouble patching from 1.5.3596 to 1.5.3599. One of the suggestions to resolve this issue is to download the game from Steam.

I have my CD key. How do I download the game from Steam without buying the game again?
