Start the install through steam so it begins downloading then wait a couple of minutes. Pause, paste the files from your pc into the folders steam has created. Then rught click the game in steam and go 'verify integrity of game cache', if all goes well steam should then find all the files are in the right place and let you play with no big download.

He said he cant install anything so we assumed he won't be able to install steam too, and that way is the same as installing the game from steam but you don't download the files because you have them

mostly the steam edition with retail exe will work

I've installed FA to my desktop machine - with steam - so far, so good, and I enjoy it a lot. Now, I would like to move the installed program to an external hard drive, to be able play it from a laptop - where I can't install anything. Is it worth trying it? If it's a couple of entries in the registry, I think, I can export/import it, but if the install puts a lots of dlls into the windows/system folder, or use absolute paths in lots of places, then I give up my idea. But anyway, is there anybody, who already tried it? Or it's just an insane stupidity, that no one else would ever come up, just me ? :)

Thanks
