Look at any video (spaz's, rake's), they always zoom in much more than you normaly do ingame. And it feels SO EPIC :D

Its only epic feeling because its rare... It would be boring if it happened every game

Doesn't everybody already use zoom? I use it every game.

When strategic zoom was introduced with SC there was some discussion about how the game is reduced to a lot of symbols moving around in a map, because it is only in very exceptional cases that it is usefull to zoom in or even pan the view. That way a lot of the epicness, the amazing size of units (ACU compared to LAB, EXP compared to ACU...) is lost to the player.

My idea is to enable different zoom levels like tech levels by building the radar t1-t3:
- no radar: Your view is fixed on your ACU (following) on very close zoom level
- t1 radar: You can now move the camera around freely
- t2 radar: You can zoom out to 1/3rd of the map in view (or maybe 50% of total possible zoom out)
- t3 radar: Current normal camera/zooming

On the one hand, this might just be annoying, on the other hand it would a) change gameplay a bit in an interesting way, b) increase the players connection to the ACU c) force you to start out with low zoom levels making you appreciate the gigantic scale later on much more.

What do you think?
