Not to mention severely insufficient fortifications* and stupidly forward Commanders make easy wins, even taking into account the usual strategy of getting to a certain point then building up hugely. Honestly, some of these missions, some Modder somewhere needs to beef some stuff right up, in order to make things feel like a brutal grind. The 2nd FA mission for example, extremely underwhelming once you get past the initial onslaught.

*Only in IIRC the second Cybran mission of vanilla do you encounter anything like a truly powerful fortification, something that would give you pause even with t3 units. But it can be gone around....or smashed a lot.

And here we see a seasoned and greatly talented pro having fun playing around in the campaign missions. When watching the cast I felt what made the campaign special, yes of course the AI is dumb compared to a human opponent, but given a head start they are not too bad at all and can be quite fun to play against. Also when watching I remembered why I liked the campaign missions in the first place. I felt like I was the human commander of whatever faction I was playing, united with my fellow humans fighting off some nasty aliens and I felt a sense of comradeship, of brotherhood with my fellow man, whether he/she was UEF/Aeon/Cybran. I also enjoyed getting regular updates from the HQ guy, even though he was kind of creepy compared to the commanders in SupCom original. Just something about the way he always said "HQ out" seemed odd. Sorry slight tangent there :D

But as I was saying, don't get me wrong I like an intense multiplayer game as much as the next guy but multiplayer games cannot capture the feeling of building a vast army and kicking an alien butt. This is one of the reasons Galactic War is so successful, even though it would be impossible to make it feel completely authentic due to a lack of animated characters. But in multiplayer everyone seems so quick to dismiss the singleplayer missions, even though they are quite rich. Just a thought ;)
