unfortunately now to use integrated gaz_ui and hotbuild you have to uninstall gaz_ui and hotbuild mods, not just disable

I have a small problem related to this. I want to activate some mods, specifically hotbuild and GAZ_UI. After downloading them from the vault, the instructions say that you have to go to the Programs/FAforever/bin/ folder and start the forgedalliance.exe. Unfortunately, this does not work for Windows 8!! There is no bin folder! When I search for forgedalliance.exe it only brings up the faf lobby. Consequently, I cannot active these mods for use in faf. Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think its possible to start the game at 3599 through the faf client.

You could also turn off support factories in the lobby if I remember correctly, which effectively removes 'Engie mod' changes.

To ad to SAKO_X's description of HQs, it is still, in fact, more efficient to play the old way with hundreds of T1 Engineers for Air and Naval Factories, and even for Land up to a certain extent.

The only way you can play 3599 is by installing it separately. You can play 3606 on Steam... Why you'd want to I have no clue.

The version I was talking about is 3599, sorry I should have been more specific. But don't get me wrong, I love the FAF balances, bug fixes and especially the lobby. I just haven't figured out some things yet, like the land factory HQ thing. So I was wondering if it is possible to start a 3599 game through the FAF client, as it would be easier, because I would not have to establish a hamachi connection for example.
But if not, that's fine too. I am absolutely happy with version 3626.

It's like ZLO said FAF is FA version 3626 (?) while GPGnet was FAF version 3599.
So if you want to play "just FA" simply double click "ForgedAllianceForever" the first tab from top.

OK, so yeah, faf can be based on 3596, 3599, 3603beta, or steam version, and faf does not affect your installation at all except maybe user profile (game.prefs file)
And if you want launch you 3599 or whatever version that fat based on you can just do it in game files.
And you ask for ability to host FA vanilla games with old balance and bugs, but do you realise that all players have 4 different versions, hosting just unmodified version of your fa is not really an option, but if you ask for hosting 3599 or 3603 it is probably possible but we do not have that and tho use version have lots bugs and exploits and balance issues like restorers super cheap t3 air in 3599 or almost free transports and t1 bomber 2sec reload time in 3603

There's been a while, since I was loading both the last version of gpg(3599), and faf. I don't know if it still works, or if I remember it correctly, but I think you can still load "only fa", if you go to the programs folder, then to THQ, then to the bin folder. There you will find a Forgedalliance. exe file, which if double clicked, should load the unmodified(by faf) version of fa.

The same you can do with "faf forged alliance", but it's been so long I was playing this "game", that I don't even know where the relevant .exe file resides and I won't bother to find out( yes I am very lazy, especially lately).

Yes, this is basic functionality of windows, they want to strip us of, by promoting the mobile oses, while claiming false simplicity and imagined benefits.

Faf is not really a modification, it is a balance patch + bug fixes + lobby + all features that can't be counted,
Same as 3603 (steam version) it was never been official but it is considered as current FA version .
So what FA you want to play? 3596, 3599, e
3603beta(steam version) or 3621 or whatever is current faf version is now.
I think you can only play faf version on faf, there is 3599 unlished mod but it changes ton of stuff anyway
So for 3603 you go on steam or tunngle or some unofficial place where people play FA, for 3599 I have no idea, just install that version(it is compatible with faf BTW) and play with friends via IP or hamachi.
I do not see any reason to play 3596

Edit: there is also Diamond mod which is something middle between faf and 3599, but it is still a mod and u need for example support com to make t4 in that mod

Is it possible to start an only FA game? You know, just Forged Alliance without the FAF modifications? I was just wondering as there are many mods and for example, even a supreme commander vanilla option. So I figured maybe there is also a just FA option and I am only too dumb to find it.
Does someone know?
