My comments on strategic preview in the other thread.

I have used various console commands to change reclaim visibility - and it works - but also introduces horrible rendering bugs like textures flickering on and off, or half the map being black, etc.

That's what I'd really like to see. It's hard to plot out reclaim paths for engis when the field is scattered across a wide area (like after a running naval battle) and you can't see it without zooming in on only a tiny portion of it at a time.

pretty sure there is some sort of parameter you can change in the console, i don't know the command, but I believe ta4life knows it.

About the reclaim display - TA had a that feature, and it was terrific. What I would want to know though (I'll see if I can find the thread where we discussed it before) is whether it would display the default amount of reclaim for each item, or the current amount of reclaim remaining. I remember we had talked about how it would not be appropriate to display the current amount remaining, because you could get free information about what your opponent is doing without scouting, which is something I agree with entirely. If you're going to to a reclaim tooltip, make it display default reclaim per item only please.

I think it's a bad case of misunderstanding.

Zep doesn't appear to be very interested in the project, which means no integration with FAF, but I can still make my own tool. I will make v2 in a few weeks.

BTT:
It would also be awesome to make Reclaimable Stuff visible even when zoomed out. Don't know about the performance impact, but I guess it is possible.

Er what? It was not rejected. Nobody knows how to inject these inside the minimap.

What was rejected was to re-parse every single map in the vault to add a png with the heatmap in the zip.

It turns out I'll be free in a month or two to do some modding over my summer break and I have a cool idea for a mod in mind but I'm going to need some help from experienced modders who know exactly what they're doing. I really need this help to get pointed in the right direction and discuss what's possible and what isn't and what could work best.

I've gotten some feedback from some on aeolus that this would be really cool.
My mod idea: Basically, by hovering over a reclaimable rock, tree or wreckage, a little tab in the HUD will tell you exactly how much mass and energy can be reclaimed respectively. I think this would be exceptionally useful for all players, even to the top players. It would make it easier to avoid floating, saving that reclaim for later, or maybe just a way of learning the map and improving your play.

Please get in touch me with either on here or PM me in aeolus :)

Thanks,

-taxman
