Sorry old post again. Zep I think your link to specs on what is required is missing. Is this still a viable option? I have all mentioned requirements (Or I can quickly make them), besides upload bandwidth. Any idea on what would be reasonable? No doubt depends on the numbers connecting via proxy and how many simultaneous games there are.

as far as ISP in AUS goes I believe iinet have the best international bandwidth. Even then I think its only 1gbit to EU. Whirlpool.net.au would be the place to ask.

Having a bad time getting ubuntu to install openssh-server, keep getting size mismatch errors.

EDIT: sorted, firewall was messing something up

No, but the ping need to be stable from the FAF server.

If you give me some IPs to ping, I can test them immediatly.

We will get a server for under $20, lots of virtual servers around, don't need a dedicated server do we?

To be viable, it shouldn't cost more than 20-30 bucks/month.

I think it's possible - to get one for under 100 not sure yet.

Alpharius, in regards for hosting - it looks pretty grim. I'd recommend tpg, for the right price you can get a decent upstream connection without a data cap.

I'm installing Ubuntu as an openSSH server.

It's almost done, I just need to go onsite to setup a DMZ before I open this up to the net. I can unfortunately only do that tomorrow.

In the mean time, does any one know of any decent ISP's in Australia?

The OS doesn't really matter.

I would prefer a ubuntu server distribution, but it's really to make it easier for me to connect to SSH and check every thing is all right.
The hardware needed is really not much.

I've started the master/slave support but it can take some time (a day or two). You can follow it here:

In the meantime, you can setup the server and check everything is okay connection-wise.

I can help with servers and testing for a couple of months. That cluster is no where near capacity yet. Depending on what happens down the line I'll move it to one of my ISP's if necessary.

I will also need to know what ports needs to be opened up/mapped est... We can do that in a PM though.

What do you need for a proxy server? Bandwidth/Server specs. I can host one in South Africa or help with one in Australia.
