I purchased Supreme Commander Gold edition on steam sale last week. I downloaded Forged Alliance and ran the game. When the game loads up I get a black screen, I can hear sound in the background (presumably the intro) and after hitting escape twice and moving my mouse I can hear the sound of what I assume is my mouse hovering over menu options.
I tried to google the issue and tried many of the recommendations including
1)Setting Forged Alliance to Windows XP sp3 and making sure it was running as an administrator
2)Updating my graphics card to the latest drivers
3)I tried to locate the games.pref file however I could not find the file in my version of supcom
4)I tried to check the integrity of the steam cache
5)I tried re downloading and reinstalling the game.
6)I even turned off and uninstalled MSI and Fraps as some people suggested that the overlays interfered with Supcom.
I have tried loading the game through Steam and from the install folder, final I tried loading the gam through FAF with in all cases with the same result. Lastly I tried downloading and installing the original supcom to the exact same effect.

After reviewing this site I came across topic: f=3&t=6926&hilit=black However I believe this to be a different issue as I cannot see my mouse, and this person does not mention hearing sound.
I just want to play any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. IF I don’t join UEF galactic war soon I fear Gyle will jump through the screen and kill me
