You're right about the zip :).

I copied it to my profile folder and opened it in game. Mission opens and I can now continue! Only thing strange for me is some of the units and structures are in Russian :D. Only the ACU, the Black Sun structure and one other unit I noticed. No big deal and doesn't affect the game play. I'll keep this save game safe in case I decide to play through again.

Thanks again

edit: So far, I did nothing to make Steam version work and I'm on Win7 x64 too. Just this one time I've had a problem. I hope that's the last one or I may be asking for assistance again on the forums!

here, i desided to 7zip it, so now it takes about 30 times less memory... but still can't send those 1.5 Mb it via forums.... lol

Edit: also i want to say that it was really hard to make game work on steam, i had to do some stuff manually to make it work (find game exe file, and run in compatibility mode with win XP) and only after that game will start... and still had some weird issues with black screen couple of times... so weird... can't really tell if that is steam's fault or win 7

You guessed right. I'm on normal difficulty until I get used to the game. There was a way to edit the pref file which I guess you found. I'll post again shortly after it's downloaded to let you know if it got me past the problem!
*edit* Just noticed though, the download has SCFA in it's name. I'm on the original Supreme Commander, not FA at the moment. Almost downloaded now so I can check

(Yes I know you all have FA but hope some of you also have the original installed.)

I am playing the original Supcom in campaign mode. I'm getting to operation 6 - Stone wall (UEF) and the game crashes before I can do anything. I've tried a load of things to fix it. The game has run fine otherwise.
So my idea is if someone could open Supcom, start mission 6 and save for me then send the save file, i could use that to load the game and hopefully it will be past whatever it is that crashes my game. Maybe it's a cutscene or something at the start.

I know I can skip the mission by editing a pref file to unlock the campaigns but I'd rather not. Also, I know the saves might be profile specific and I'm unsure if I'll be able to load a save from someone else's game. My saves are located here on Steam version: %userprofile%\My Documents\my games\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander\savegames\

Any takers for trying this?

Thanks in advance!
