I was playing a game offline with EcoManager v3, the Mass Fab Auto On/Off Mod, and Notify v3.7.

I had a number of T1 engies assisting a T2 engy, which was assisting a factory.

At some point all of the T1 engies stopped assisting, however I had never paused them. I repeatedly re-right clicked the T2 engy, but they wouldn't assist. I paused and unpaused the T1 engies, still nothing. I ordered the T2 engy to stop, then again assisted the factory, and it went back to assisting, and I still couldn't get the T1 engies to assist. The only way I was able to have them assist was to move the T2 engy from one corner of the factory to another (a huge pain in practice, since it has to bump all sorts of other engies in the way).

This was an offline, sandbox game, so I don't have a replay number or log unfortunately. But I think it's probably a matter of time before others get this error as well.

Yesterday I also possibly have lost a game due to this problem. A teammate, even after having told him about this bug briefly, thought his engineers were assisting an SMD for some time when they had not been, and it would have made the difference because he was nuked with very little left in producing an anti-nuke.

This has also been a problem for me, I've noticed, when pausing engineers assisting upgrading mexes, as they do nothing when unpaused but appear exactly as if they are.

This is a very serious problem.

Especially when you use ecomod which pauses engies automatically.. costed me two games yesterday, because there was no progress in building my base and PDs ans stuff - and i wondered why all shit took so long

I deactivaed mod now (maybe i should keep it off anyways). Anyway this sould be fixed fast.

.. thx for your coding-efforts!

Basically, after an assisting engineer has been paused and unpaused, they behave as if they are stopped, i.e. they won't do anything until issued orders again, yet will appear to be assisting still.

I've made a 7.5 minute replay to demonstrate.

When assisting, and then paused, engineers (at least Aeon T1) will continue to appear to assist, i.e. their "construction beam" will still be glowing.

If unpaused, their beam will still be going, and the "pause" icon on them will disappear, yet they won't actually be doing anything. The only way to actually know if they are doing anything is by resource consumption, and hovering over them with the mouse.

If they are right-clicked onto the object, they will then assist as intended.

If assisting a factory, or an ACU with multiple upgrades, they will actually assist when the current unit/upgrade is completed, but not before.
