I'm having the same error. I suspected a virus and found one, but after removal and restart the error is still there and I also get a dialog whenever I try to write to that folder telling me I need administrator privileges (which I have, so I click OK and it does the action - but still).
I'm currently doing a re-install to see if that helps.

Update: Reinstall let me run FAF from the installer, but closing and attempting to reopen FAF runs into the same error. I then went to faforever.exe and selected Run As Administrator, and now it works.

Restarting solved the problem it seems. dunno if the thread has any value left within itself.

Failing to launch the faforever aplication.

Will try to solve problem with a reinstall.
EDIT: reinstall did no solve the issue
