Still not working for me unfortunately, but at this point I'm thinking it might just be a problem with the campus internet since disabling every firewall, etc. didn't work. Gonna head home in a week though and hope that fixes it.

Unfortunly that was your specific problem, extrapolating that for other problems is not correct, that's why there's logs and methods, anyway, please mark this post as solved

SWEET LORD BABY JESUS IT FINALLY WORKS
This is a fairly new computer, and it had McAfee installed, but it is now out of date and i disabled it, but it apparently was in control of my firewall and preventing everything to do with faf. It works now. In the future if this problem comes up ask if McAfee or another defender program is installed and blocking its abilities.

Ok, your faf is well installed, so, now its time to check if it has access to internet, when you run it it should prompt on your firewall to give it access to the internet...

if you can not see the windows firewall message, then please go to windows firewall setting in control panel, and press reset, or if you have the skill change the values for FAF

to troubleshoot this, just disable temporarly antivirus and firewall, run faf, if it runs properly you have your culprits there and its time to configure them

get client instalation file from here : https://github.com/FAForever/client/releases

post your Operative Sytem details

second, please open "cmd.exe" (command prompt) as administrator

after that use the following commands :

Code:: cd %USERPROFILE%

- to change to your user folder

Code:: cd downloads

- to go to your download folder

Code:: msiexec /i Forged.Alliance.Forever-0.11.52-win32.msi /Lime fasetuplog.txt

- to get a log from the instaler

after that, attach the fasetlog.txt to this forum thread using "upload attachment" option

What I mean is when I went on a computer that has successfully ran faforever in the past is wasn't working there either, I never actually got to the point where I would copy and paste anything, and I have also performed several fresh installs.

I did a clean install, again, to the letter. I did the guide exactly. It still doesn't work.

you can not copy folder, you need to install FA from DVD or Steam , same for FAF, you need to install it, you can not copy it

Fixed the path, although I thought I did it before, and still doesn't work, had the idea to copy and download every relevant folder from my old laptop that I know used to work and just paste them on the new computer, but after updating faforever on my old computer it's having the exact same problem.
