All the normal sound for the lobby work, you can click the x as many times as you want ant it will have its sound.
But In-game, when I start the initial factory, the build start sound plays, then the build sounds plays, and then it stops.
A more clear example is when i click or mouse over anything that has an immediate sound playback, the first time it plays, second time some of them work, but almost always the 3rd time never "refreshes" its code or something to loop or replay that sound.
My ACU starts shooting and the first two sound and the rest of the shots don't. A tank dies and has sound, the next tank dies and doesn't. It doesn't seem to be a problem for T1 bombers though I haven't tried extensively.

My point is that I don't think this is about drivers or exclusive control. I think this is broken code, corrupted code.
I have deleted my game files and caches, but this hasn't gone away.

Mumble has the tendency to take "exclusive control" over your sound card, even if you explicitly disabled that; disabling sound in some other applications.

I had a very similar (if not the same) problem which came up for no reason and would not go away. Unlike the mixer problem, my mixer was set to the right volume. Windows sound was already set to stereo etc.

Regardless, the solution that worked for me was to basically recreate games.pref. If you don't know how to do that, below are some instructions:

0. Just in case, back up game.prefs.
(Located in %AppData%\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
For most people, that would be C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance)

1. Delete game.prefs
Note: you will lose all your FA settings.
2. Launch Forged Alliance, without going through FAF. Re-set any settings as desired.
3. Try and test. It will hopefully all be working now.

Perhaps everyone can send in their sound-bugged game.prefs so we might be able to figure out what is causing this problem. For me, nothing apparent caused it - just played a game and the issue started and would never go away.

Credit to tatsu for pointing me in the right direction.

Not had the issue for a while now. I had a slightly different problem in that when the game started there would be no game sound what so ever (FX or music), next game or replay it would be back.

Another variable is that I have changed from my Creative Labs Xi-Fi back to onboard sound driver after my memory upgrade to 4GB (there is a bug with the drivers for my Xi-Fi card which do not support the larger system memory and had crackling on the output). I don’t know if it is my drivers/hardware that caused the problem or not as it seemed to be random, that said I never had the problem on GPGnet when I was using the Xi-Fi. So sorry, no answers.

Also, MENTAL, have you ever been able to resolve your issue?

Thanks!

My last experience of this was just now. I played a 1v1 automatch and the game was fine no issues, I then watched the replay and there was no sound. I then opened the same replay again and this time it was fine. :?

I have 121 games played on FAF and I would say this has happened about 6 times with no obvious pattern. I know a friend has had this happen to him once.

I have not reported this as a bug yet, I just wanted to find out first if anyone else has experienced something similar?
