however, as you know faf development team issues updates from time to time, and that can cause you issues, a better understanding of your connection/router will get you out of trouble in the long run

I completely reinstalled both faf and supreme commander at my friends house and I got in a lobby. I hope this is behind me! Thanks for the help.

its not clear, but most likely you have some connectivity problem, you say you disabled antivirus/firewall, but it might just be the router you are connected to..
but its simple to solve this, just access another internet point
if you really can't access another internet point, get a vpn , encrypted to avoid router control, and try again

downlords port check error, does not mean that it can't auto download the files

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I get the same error when I try to launch replays. I downloaded downloards launcher and get a port check error. I already stopped messing with the files weeks ago so ignore that. My faflogs file is on a previous post in this thread, should be the same as it has been because its the same problem. All my virus stuff is off. Could it be the internet here? Im at my University and It was working completely fine until April 1st. I asked them and they arnt blocking port 53483blabla or whatever the standard port the game uses.

I also assume you disabled your antivirus etc when testing? Maybe something is trying to be a smartass and blocking the process from launching. Try turn off Windows Smartscreen in settings also if it's not already off.

What happens if you try launch a local replay in Replays / Local archive? Nothing?

You shouldn't be copying/moving around game files or try run as administrator etc. This will mess up restrictions.

Did you uninstall FAF completely? Including deleting the C:\programdata\faforever directory, don't even leave an empty directory. Then try to download latest version and try again, upload C:\programdata\faforever\logs\game.log and C:\programdata\faforever\logs\faforever.log

(remember to enable game logging in FAF after re-install: Options / Settings / Save game logs)

I still have this problem. The only thing that I can think that could cause this is something isnt dowloading right. I downloaded Downloards client and I can't play on that either because it says that I cant connect to the port. I think that if we downloaded everything from somewhere else it might work.\

p.s. i miss this game so much right now

I'm also getting this issue, can't figure out how to fix it. Game launches fine from within the FAF folder and the THQ folder, but all I get through the FAF client whenever I try to host, ladder, or join a match is "fa has failed to start"

...Anyone have some ideas? I've tried compatibility stuff, permissions, the log says nothing more than the error dialog does. I'm lost.

So I still have this problem. I have reinstalled multiple times to try to fix it, and none of the reinstalling has done anything. Logs are up above in a different comment. Could it be I'm missing some files? Maybe the launcher just isn't downloading the files correctly. Could someone send me their C:\ProgramData\Faforever files? Maybe if someones files are working and i replace mine with them it will work.

So I went and uninstalled and then reinstalled like you said, even deleting everything in C:\ProgramData\Faforever. I then tried to host a game, the launcher downloaded some files and then i got the same error, "FA has failed to start."
I think it might be a problem with C:\ProgramData\Faforever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe because the file tries to run that command and then it shuts down. Here are forever logs: http://pastebin.com/5MVW1yZt
I also ran it vanilla on steam, and it worked just fine.

well, although I have to congratulate you because you used the search function, that issue was with a previous faf version, there were some more updates since that bug appeared.

so, after your FAF is correctly installed C:\ProgramData\Faforever contents will be only the essential files for FAF to run, but when you open FAF, go to Play tab and host a game, it will start to download files, some of them will go to C:\programdata\Faforever\bin, but this is an automated process

if you host a modded game or the Beta balance mod, FAF will download different files and place them in the same folder, so when the game launches you will have all the correct files

so, in other words, you should let FAF decide what goes into those folders

No, what happened was earlier today I went to start a game of faf and when i tried to join, I recieved the error "Fa has failed to start." So I went and searched and found the forum mentioned above. I tried to use this guys fix

This issue will probably be solved automaticaly in a few days, but this is how i managed to fix it manualy.

However I have no files in my "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\lua" folder, so I don't know how to solve the problem. I did not move the files I only copy/replaced them.
