you only used move order for like 1-2 seconds, that is not enought to catch up to thaam cause speed difference is pretty small
(also you almost clicked at montain there, terrain there was getting in the way a bit as well)
then you used attack order,
mantis were useing attack order = they stop as soon they get in range
maybe attack ring range is lagging behind unit just like vision

after i looked closer at -10 speed:
What should have happened that mantis should shoot once and thaam should shoot once... and that was happening most of the time, except maybe once but i am not sure maybe mantis were getting in from of each other and one was slowing another =\

Every single time the thaam fires, the closest mantis fires one too. Others in this thread have already explained exactly why things are happening as they are.

I don't think others in this thread explained things...
but we can close this thread and reference it in the future as proof that mantis is not faster than thaam and that spread attack order should be set as default.

That's why you use move orders instead of attack orders if you want to chase units like this.

The mantis gets in range, shoots at the tham and stops moving, because the order is to attack it, not to hug it, and once it is in range it'll stop. Then it is realizing the thaam is out of range now, and tries to get back in range (and manages to, due to higher speed) to repeat the pity process.

Mantis and Thaam are both shooting while in range, but since Thaam is frontloaded it doesn't lose dps in the time when Mantis is not in range.

Forged the dps and frontloaded stuff. Look at the shots, one unit is firing the other is not. The unit with the higher rate of fire is not firing
Attack order given at 4:04. The mantis do not gain any distance either during the attack order, or during the previous move order.

And all of you have completely ignored the title of the thread. Aren't mantis supposed to be faster than thaam.

Also if I cared about points I would do a lot worse things than ctrl k

Can someone try to come up with a real explanation, not the side stepping nonsense posted so far.

Watch the raiding thaam on the left side.(from about 4:05 to 4:20) It gets an attack order from a couple mantis, the mantis pursue but do not get closer. To make matters worse the thaam is able to shoot back while the mantis do not shoot.

Please explain this to me.
