Supported mods And Large Map lag

Hey guys, Although I have never played FAF I have played a fair bit of Ta and SC FA and I was looking for supported mods that add more maps and better game mechanics. As a programmer(not a fantastic one but I know a fair bit) I know writing physics and pathfinding engines for games can be hard but with current computing power, I would think that redoing the SC FA engines would be a doable task as they would not need to be terribly well optimised. I was just thinking along these lines because haveing stronger engines would allow for bigger maps and more players.

To sum this up I was wondering if anyone has or is working on a better engine for the game. I was also looking for suggestions on new maps that we could play.

I am looking forward to playing FAF in my spare time and I am super glad that I found a group of people who like the game as much as I do.
