If anyone is still interested in this, i think i found a workaround which is kind of a temporary solution to this or at least it helps a little with the stutter.

So recently i moved from win 7 to win 10 and stumbled upon this problem. So i started wondering about similar things that were happening in other games.

Some time ago i played terraria which had very simillar issue with stutter and FPS drops. The solution was to enter task manager and find main process.
Then you have to turn off one of the threads on that process. I usually turn off core 0 as it runs most background apps (i may be wrong?) (doesnt matter rly)
So i tried that with FA Forever process and i think it worked or at least it helped in a meaningfull way because i dont notice stuttering anymore besides what
is normal (laggs and slowdowns coused by normal multiplayer gameplay). The cursor runs smooth so i consider that a "no stutter" situation.

TL:DR - task manager --> find FA.exe process --> go to details --> right click --> set affinity --> turn off one thread (at least for 4 core processors)

Also it is temporary, you have to set that per every new process launch. Or at least i was to lazy to find a way to set that permanently.

Not that I enjoy bumping old topics but this is a persistent issue in faf and would like this not to be forgotten in case others start to look into this issue.
Shady - sadly i've not come across a solution thus far except to play non-faf faf (steam version without using faf client). Though with that you are also losing the improvements made to vanilla faf accessible through the client. Essentially we're between a rock and a hard place, a love for the improvements but with an ever-present annoyance that gets worse the more you notice and think about it.

Things I have tried:
Fresh install of FA and FAF
Delete game prefs and cache
Fresh reinstall of graphics drivers.
My system monitor shows not a single cpu core or my GPU maxing out.
Fullscreen or Windowed, V-sync on or off, same story
I am running no mods UI or otherwise.
Also always have low ping and no packet loss. I am ported correctly. The issue occurs on local games as well.

I notice range circles makes the problem slightly worse which makes me think it's UI related.

Is this a normal part of FAF or is there a possible fix for this?

Thats actually a part of the game.
I think that happens when you're close to any kind of nuke explosion?
To show off the power of the blast, i guess.

There should be a mod called "No Shake" (or something similar) that removes that feature.

It's not that. The stuttering is constant throughout his entire video. It is easier to notice if you watch the air units or shells being fired later into the game. I notice it on other youtubers videos too. I can't tell if everyone has this problem or not. It gets worse at slower sim speeds.
Here is my example of it at -2 >>> https://gyazo.com/f5b18da6cb3178b40eb082408693c771 You can see the frame rate dip, but no where close to what is on screen.

I thought a decrease in sim speed just slowed down the game smoothly but for me the stuttering gets so bad -3 is almost unplayable.

I also had a question on how you get a 75 framerate. I am only given the 60 fps option for 1920x1080p.

Salty and unhelpful.

Because you've elected to continue being unhelpful, I will simply start quoting myself on these posts of yours in this topic
IceDreamer has kindly offered to assist me with pinpointing the cause - might you try and do the same without the snark.

Also we've yet to confirm or deny that, so until then - try and be helpful or at least keep unnecessary comments out of this topic.

Yeah, game performance is never a problem. We want bugs in the game to add to the lag already present and then record it into replays that can run nice and slow at +10. Not a problem.

If someone who has this issue constantly, for whom it's a constant trouble, could PM me, I can walk them through some comprehensive tests to try and track down if this really is a FAF problem.

I would like to try those tests, I sent you a pm asking about it. Not sure it sent as it is in my outbox and not the sent folder.
