ok, that is your problem right there as faf and fa only support 16 bit/44k sound (stereo not surround ofc)

Set to 16bit 44k, still no voiceover dialogue.
Not sure if this matters or not, but I was getting all of the other sounds playing just fine even before I started changing things thanks to this thread.

stereo at 16 bit/44k ?

No idea, I right click speakers in the bottom right, click sound, go to playback, find my headphones, hit configure, and it says they're in stereo.
I think I found what you're asking about while writing that path down. If I'm right, it's 24 bit 48000 Hz

there are some solutions to sound issues, try those.

Saw that post previously, checked my sound and I have it set to stereo. That was the only thing listed that caused crashes.

Do the voices play for you in the campaign? From the log I can see some issues regarding opening the sound files which might cause the crash.

Good catch, I had thought I just had Voiceover volume all the way to zero, but that would have been reset when I deleted the profiles folder.
No, when I launch the first coop mission through FAF, HQ does not play a voice at all.

Here's the crash log from said game: http://pastebin.com/efQie6NC

I don't know how missing sound files would prevent me from being able to close the game at all without task manager though.

The pre-mission story talk in the base game does not have voices either.
And for some reason, I can launch skirmish missions from the base game now. No idea what changed.

Skirmish crashed at 5:30.

Clicking exit buttonfrom ingame gives this crash log: http://pastebin.com/xHGCF3k6

Skirmish in FAF, no mods. Crash log: http://pastebin.com/hZXK4dpv

I have to control-alt delete, end process out. Sometimes I can get the first mission to launch correctly, but it crashes (control-alt delete required again) a few minutes in, usually around when I'd be building a t2 factory/commander upgrade (as Earth).
If I try and skirmish, the selected map is always gray, and I can't pick another one, and there will always be four slots open, one to me and three that can't be modified.
I uninstalled Forged Alliance Forever because I like playing mods, and they were no longer supported. All of the issues I'm having are with no mods installed or enabled yet.
It seems that exiting the game in any way freezes it, requiring ctrl-alt delete to end the task.

Tried Re-installing Forged Alliance Forever, games both with mods and without mods (for co-op campaign at least) crash.
Get into the game (have played with Earth and Robots) and it let's me play for maybe 10 minutes tops before crashing.
