Last week I got a used GTX 680 card. Put it in, did the drivers, downloaded steam on a fresh install of windows 7. Got FA. Opened it, the resolution had to be fixed. Go to video settings. All the text is extremely pixelated and unreadable. I find the 1080p area (though I couldn't read it, just had more numbers so I assumed it was higher). Start swapping between the 60/59/30hz and so on to find something that works. The text is still just some variation of pixelation. After 5 or 6 swaps, it suddenly is perfect. I play for a half hr and learn the video card is crap.
So I got a brand new GTX 970 SC. Updated to the latest drivers on once again a FRESH install of windows 7 pro 64 bit (had to get OSX Yosemite to run the 970, required a reinstall of windows). Get steam, get FA. Open it, same resolution problem, as I expected. I start clicking through the 1080's between the different frequencies, none of them will work at all. I started a game for the heck of it, the map looks fine, the 3D units look fine but the text, health bars, and 2D images (buildings in the interface) are all heavily pixelated. Then I quit the game completely to windows, and the desktop resolution is all botched too, pixelated and fuzzy, difficult to read text. So I basically change to a different res and then back to 1080 and everything is fine. This is a 100% repeatable process.
I did notice when I start FA the monitor flickers and says something about display change. This sound familiar to anyone? I would greatly appreciate some advise. I did a net search and read through the 'read before posting' and havent found a single thing. I did verify my monitor is set to 1080p at 60 hz. Which is its native resolution. I am starting to think its a driver issue but honestly this GPU swap stuff is new to me.Statistics: Posted by Kyle N — 10 Mar 2017, 06:23
