we're going to have a dev call on the 30th of this month around 20:00 UTC+1
the IPv6 issue is on the agenda

we will fix the issue at some point (basically once someone finds time to do so) but until then the temporary fix with turning off ipv6 is all we can offer

Can we please mark this as not solved?

I'm in the same boat and have not been able to download any maps or mods for over a week now, because of ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. (Finally made my forum account just to vent about this.)

Disabling IPv6 is not an option for me as my ISP only gives me an IPv6 connection (tunneling and NATing IPv4 through slowly) and I also do use IPv6-only services.

It'd be great if we could get this problem fixed instead of telling users to mutilate their internet connection.

One solution if the client can't be fixed that I can see, is removing the IPv6 addresses from the DNS zones for the Vault subdomains, so the FAF client wouldn't even try to connect via IPv6.

This is another topic, so another post:

I don't see how it is a solution to deactivate IPv6 on your computer? A solution could be that faf doesn't use it anymore. Fine.

Only a small amount of players will search the forums for a solution at all. Usually they get frustrated and play something else

For the average PC user here a short guide how you can do this (Maybe someone needs it) on Windows 10.
Don't worry, there is no danger for your Computer to take damage. You can copy this text to a local txt-file or make a photo of your screen to be able to redo the change in case you dont have any internet-connection anymore.
Description may vary due to translation errors

1. Open Settings (Windows-Key + i)
2. Scroll down and choose 'Network- and Approval-Center'
3. In 'active network-connections' there should be a the connection you're using for internet-access(e.g. myWlan4523), click on the name.
4. Click on 'Properties' (the one you can only access as admin).
5. You should now see a list of checkboxes, search for the one that says'Internet-protocol Version 6(TCP/IPv6)' or something similar.
6. Uncheck it and click OK
7. Restart FaF

To make sure everything else works you should reactivate it after not playing with faf.

HI, I got the same issues, but after I close the pop-up and the download-window really fast, I get the following exception:

Already tried cleaning the data using Options->Clear Data...
Microsoft indeed released an Update, that was installed on my Computer yesterday, which probably was the isssue
According to microsoft, this update should make sure, that further updating would go safer (Windows Update doesnt work anymore as well in my case)

The Update only is installed depending on the machine. Microsoft didn't give details to that afaik. That explains, why the problem appears not on every windows 10-user-system.

/Edit: The update usually is not shown in the update-history, since it is a modification of an older update already part of the windows-build. Thus you can't redo it with windows-functions alone. Unfortunately I cant provide a workaround now, maybe I'll find one tomorrow...

Same problems here with the 0.16.1 final release.

- No access to unit database.
- No replay wanna work
- LeaderBoards is broken

This is indeed a problem with IPv6 which I was able to solve in Windows by disabling it. However, the core of the problem is with FAF infrastructure which FAF needs to fix on their side.

I have seen several people saying that disabling ipv6 on their PC solved the issue for them. So maybe that will help to narrow down the problem and also help some people who are having this issue.

Alright. Too bad this is one of these windows problems again . It's kinda major as it's not possible to download any maps at the moment. Thanks for looking into it Wesmania. Let's hope it gets fixed really soon.

Okay, this suggests that it's most likely not anything that we changed in RCs. Qt uses modified Chrome to render webpages, so I can only imagine that the Windows update changed something that made things slightly incompatible. I guess this is not really something we have power to change - we'll have to be on the lookout for any Qt or Windows updates that fix it.
