I have 3 PC at home:
1) old PC with an Intel C2D @3Ghz, 8GB RAM, Asus P5NE-SLI motherboard and a GFX 460 or 480 (don't really remember). I'm running Win 8.1 64bit on it, with Avira and Comodo as anti-virus and FW.
This PC works without issue with FA/FAF, out of the box, a total no brainer.
2) recent PC with an Intel i7 4770K, 16GB RAM, GFX 770 can't really remember top off my head the motherboard, but the integrated audio chipset is Realtek ALC892. Win 8.1 Pro 64bit, with same AV and FW. This PC also have an external USB audio card (PreSonus AudioBox 22VSL) for my guitars.
FA/FAF will ALWAYS crash on exit, even if I didn't run a game. Need to Ctrl-Alt-Del -> task manager -> kill SupCom process.
FA/FAF will always crash (freeze) in game at some random point in time. Can be after 5mn or 20mn. So I may finish a game without crashing in-game if I'm quick enough, but will crash when exiting to Desktop.
If I disable all speakers (right-click on the speaker icon, playback, disable everything), I obviously have no sound and the game NEVER crashes. Everything is working fine.
If I only use the USB sound card: crashes
If I only use Realtek chip: crashes
I have the speakers set to stereo, no FX.
I tried several Realtek drivers, same story.
Reinstalled DirectX (11.0 btw), same story.
3) brand new PC, Intel i5 4690K, Gigabyte Z97 motherboard with Realtel audio chipset ALC887, GFX 670, 8GB RAM, Win 8.1 64bit, same AV and FW. Fresh install of system and FA/FAF.
Same story than config #2.
Note: for config #2 and #3, most replays will work without crashing with sound on (say 80%). But I crash on exit.
Edit: Need to add, since I have changed all my audio settings to try to fix that, now I'm missing sounds (voice annoucement "nuke", sound of the intro when lauching FA directly...). So there's something with the sound that needs to be done, but what?
What can I do?Statistics: Posted by Flexable — 30 May 2015, 11:40
