i am afraid of middle mass on syrtis, because my opponent may have more spam in mid then me, and i will just loose mass or get mass and die...
But you can get this mass with like 5 t1 artys, and reclaim it even without acu, middle mass is huge bonus and it is hard to win if you fight for it and lost

Thanks for your input BC_Blackheart but that is what I tried to do in this video and failed hard. I just didn't have the resources to dedicate to the flanks and the middle at the same time.

Syrtis as a great map supports a lot of viable strategys. Usually com to mid is standard - and its very fine. Just watch good syrtis replays and do the same !

I think the middle mass in Syrtis major is overrated. In the replay below, I was unable to secure the flanks because I used my com to push for the middle. I think the middle mass should only be pushed for once you have secured your flanks. You will notice that after I have reclaimed the mass I am ahead in score yet it is immaterial because the flanks have already been overrun by hordes of Manti.
