That's why the WWPC has a finite list of KO maps and then at the champion BO5 level it gets more random/harsh for the challenger.

The purpose of using official maps only was to ensure that any maps played will be reasonably well known and balanced - and that maps will have no dependency on what the host has downloaded from the vault.

I think that the random map selection can be limited by player count and map size, but I'm not entirely sure. One issue I can forsee would be a game taking forever because they got an 81 km map.

on one hand, yes

on the other hand, i choose my maps for the rounds for a reason
a lot of the time, the loser bracket might fall behind, so i choose smaller maps to try and speed them up while leaving the epic maps for winners bracket, etc

I have noticed that a lot of effort goes into the selection of maps for tournaments. But this gave me an interesting idea. What would happen if you had a 2v2 or 3v3 Tournament where the Random Map, and Official Map Pool settings were applied? This would totally mix things up and reward teams which could adapt to different maps on the fly.

What do you guys think?
