The other way around could be a better option. just choose one or two maps you dont want to play. If both players have excluded a map, it will not be choosen. If only one player has excluded the map there is the chance for that map. That should be fair. So the excluded maps are also an indicator which maps are unwanted.
If I remember correctly, that feature was also bugged. Because the ladder maps for vanilla were different to those for FA. So it was possible to have a game on non-ladder maps (like Seraphim Glaciers) with the map preferences function. But that was a GPG thing.
I actually liked the ability to post a favorite map. When you wanted to play on a particular map... But it tends to result in WTFPWN build orders. Where one player has a game rehearsed BO and the other player is just winging it. I also don't like the idea of voting a map down. A player needs to become competent on all the maps. That is the whole point of the random map system.
The one thing I would like to see, is a random search pairing teams for 2v2 ranked matches, on a 2v2 ladder map. The system on GPG was hard to work, because players would create their teams in the lobby. But the matchmaker could be made to creat evenly matched teams and put them into 2v2's. Or perhaps 2v1's. Now that would be interesting Especially considering so few players seaching the ladder - the 2v1 option could sucessfully pair players in different skill brackets. (Of course, 1v1, 2v2 and 2v1 options would need to be enabled/disabled in the seach feature).Statistics: Posted by Hawkei — 15 Jul 2013, 05:03
