i suggest to make commanders movable on galactic map.

And as a solution, i suggest to make commanders movable on galactic map. And each move could be made one time in a half-hour as an example. When commander stands on planet, he could to attack and defend closest planets, that connected by the lines. I think it makes the game more playable.
