Because the guy attacking probably unchecked the "ready to battle" checkbox. That's not a bug.

i had same twice.

Some one attacks your faction, you wait around 30 mins(maybe not impotant), then try to attack back and get autowin and sometimes with extra 100 - 150 credits back, planet goes +10% to your faction.

happened for me, have no idea how

i just won a victory and credits when i didnt even load the battle, it said the planet was being attack and not on hold this happened on 20 and 110

Edit:whoops i meant planet not battle sorry
