Playing in a LAN game

Postby alamoz » 15 Apr 2012, 03:48

I am interested in running games and perhaps tournaments for my friends at a local LAN center. I am curious if FAF has the ability to run LAN games and still use the mods? Or will we have to use steam for LAN games and mod packs. I am also curious if there will be a random added to the list of selectable matches instead of just the races?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but you should still be able to use FAF for the matching and lobby system. Once the match starts, the players are directly connected and no longer really use FAF. Ergo, assuming this LAN center has a decent connection, you guys should have excellent pings to each other even though you aren't using a direct LAN connection.

Now, if outside connection to FAF is an issue, I can see why you would ask. One of the brainiacs here may know -- you can always run FA over LAN using the FAF bin so you get all the patches, but if you want the featured mods included,I think you may be out of luck?
