Hi all, I'm going to talk about a custom map/mod that a couple of my friends and I dreamed up around when FA first came out. It was called "Solo A.C.U.," and the objective was to have a confrontational battle between an upgraded Cybran commander against a tech-2 UEF base. After 2 years and loads of development, eventually, Benny Moore, KrimsonStorm, Manimal, and I released Solo A.C.U. v6, a fully scripted custom map which allows for instant, intense combat between two players. The map saw some success on GPGNet, but by and large went unnoticed. I had completely forgotten about it for years, until I met an old friend on FAF, codeyla, who mentioned it to me.
What I'd like to do now is resurrect this custom game mode in FAF and have it fully realized. The map with map scripts fully works with a couple of minor bugs. I'm also going to try to contact the original scripter, Manimal,to see if he could update the map. I'm also open to discussing how to make the map fit into the balance changes implemented in FAF. Currently, there are a bunch of versions available in the Map Vault in FAF, and the most finished version is version 6, which you can find by searching "solo acu" in the vault. Here's a link to the original thread, where it garnered a bit of attention when it was still in development. If anybody would like to work with me on balance testing or just have a friendly game, I'd always be up for it. I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts.
The original story of the map :
This is a game type called Solo A.C.U. The concept and initial format were created by Benny Moore, and the gameplay is being developed by Benny Moore, Ertwyu, and KrimsonStorm. The story, limited as it is, is that the combatants are stuck with training A.C.U.s which have limited building capabilities but powerful upgrades. The attacking player is dropped in enemy territory and must fight to destroy the defender. There is no support from home either for you or for your enemy. It is just you on your own.
