As you may know, sunday will be FAF release (end of beta).
What does it mean exactly ?
Current state
- All the bugs I was able to fix are fixed.
Remaining bugs cannot be reproduced (like the crashing lobby).
Maybe it's possible with more input from you, but I can't do more.
- All the functions that were planned for release are here, and working.
All the "missing" functions were not planned, and won't be implemented for release. What you currently have is what you will get.
- The server, thanks to you, is paid for quite some time now. (you can count on years now if I don't change it).
An fiber line upgrade is planned at the end of the month to solve some latency problem.
The future
My main focus now is the FA patches. No more development will be made on the lobby itself for quite some times.
But where are the clan ? The tournament system ? The avatars ? XXXX ?
Some of these functions are almost done, but won't be developed further in a near future.
But... Why ?
Because it requires a lot of time.
I got a lot of really helping hands in the past on the lobby, but I'm currently the only developer on the whole project (with Raging on the web side of things for the replay vault).
As crazy as it sounds, I have a real job and this project is a hobby. A VERY time consuming hobby now.
As a matter of fact, I'm using the donations to buy me free time to finish this. Don't worry, It's credit : The money you donate will be entirely used to pay the server (and again, for years). But I'm running out of it now.
Maybe in the future I will be able to find some other competent helping hands, or more time to do things, but for now, don't expect more than you have currently.
My main focus is to continue to support the game by slowly balance it, and make the community growth by advertising FAF.
