This is a community project run by volunteers. Most legal systems in the world see "insulting people" as a bannable offense. Society agrees that insulting people is a bannable offense. If that isn't obvious to you than I don't think anyone cares about you being a part of the community. We don't have to state the rules beforehand anyways. We're trying to make everything transparent/democratic and that often leads to very long slack/forums discussions but as we're all volunteers this will never be perfect. If you want to you will always spot a loophole in the rules.
You have no right to use this service. It is provided to you free of charge. So just use common sense and everyone will have fun.
"Most legal systems in the world see "insulting people" as a bannable offense" yeah right. I don't know what kind of dystopia you live in, but where I from there are no legal consequences for calling someone names, and people get along just fine. Appealing to authority or popularity does nothing to justify your stance.
I'm not trying to pretend I have any say in how FaF runs this party, nor am I trying to get my ban lifted. I'm not pretending I'm entitled to anything. Considering what I've seen so far I wouldn't be particularly surprised if I was permed for this thread (it would be amazingly ironic, though). If anything, I'm happy FaF staff at last have some reference to go to when moderating so that hopefully atrocities like my first ban never happen again.
If you're really this confused as to what disgusts me about game chat moderation, it's that it runs completely counter to the spirit of competition. I can't even count on people to shittalk me properly when I f*** up and it's infuriating. I can't properly shittalk people when they f*** up either. Losers need to be shamed so they may stop being weak. If they can't handle the simple reality of their inferiority, they are free to shelter themselves with the mute option and stay in their imaginary kindergarten. Letting those people have the power to extend their disgusting kindergarten to the entirety of the community gives me nausea. Not to mention half of the time they don't apply their speech standards to themselves, but rarely suffer consequences because people who don't have the mentality of a 5 year old won't run crying to a mod about someone calling them out on their shit.
But yeah, as I said, I don't own this party, so I have no say in how the mods run it. This thread was more about consistency (which I sincerely believe FaF staff strives for), because that used to be a problem in the past, and introducing a set of rules is a great way to combat that. I'm not happy that the chat is policed, but I'm sure it's better for everyone if it's clearly stated that it is.
