Trueskill or ELO, join the poll

Postby ColonelSheppard » 12 Aug 2012, 20:56

This is gonna be a very simple questions, i do not expect founded answers why or why not but just you personal opinion

What do you see as the better rating system:

Trueskill

or ELO -->?

Maybe im the only one but for me it's defenitly: ELO

Again: i do not want 10 sites of argumentation only the simple words TrueSkill or ELO
I would find this very intressting

You realize that the two system are based on the same idea, but elo stripped half of it because, at the time it was invented, all the computation was done by hand ? (the other part was replaced by a crude approximation).
You can think of Elo as a trueskill-lite.

I can't even believe this is up for debate.
Trueskill.

ELO only addresses uncertainty with BS hacks.
IMO even Trueskill has some problems like artificially adding uncertainty because it assumes if you have a 99% chance to win and you lose, it therefor knows MORE about you and thus your uncertainty decreases.

But you understand how elo works ? Or how your micro-wave is working ? Since when you have to fully understand something for using it ?
If you didn't even know that it's trueskill, that wouldn't change your life :)

Trueskill. Aside from any other reasons, the fact that it includes custom and team games makes it much better.

ELO is not designed for multi team games and would not work nearly as well as truskill
