The one thing from Supreme Commander 2

(maybe the only) one thing from Supreme Commander 2, that I liked, and actually prefered over the way it is in FA:

Games start with ACU + 2 Engineers!

Dont you think after 5 years of Supreme Commander it gets boring, to start every game the same way, and it takes at least 2,5- to 3 minutes until something happens?
Of course you can decide if you go air or land, but that you can also with 2 extra engineers. The game will anyway be at least 2 minutes faster.

Of course:
it has impact on the "universe", why not also gate in several fighting units? well... its a game, no realism needed.
And it has an impact on the gameplay, yes but I think in a positive way.

i know this aint a change that anyone could take lightly, but I just felt like i post it here to see the reactions. I could understand if everyone says "no" we want FA to stay the way it is. But I also can imagine some others feel like me, saying, the first 3 minutes are the same in every or almost every game.

One of the original plans for Galactic War involved being able to not only start the game with additional units, but also choose which ones you wanted to gate with you.

ok, but I am not suggesting it for a mod or GW :P I suggest it to be standard ;)

You build a factory first anyway, so what's it going to add? You can make the factory in 15 seconds instead of 30?
Your resource count is not high enough at the start to do much else.

You could get 2 mexes and 2 Pgens done while the ACU is building the factory. It doesn't seem necessary though. You have a point in the fact that there's not much going on for the first 2-3 minutes, but after that the pace quickens. A lot. I think those 2-3 minutes of calm before the storm are useful.

You can take a good look at the map. Look at the opposing faction. Plan your game (Everyone has some plan before starting the game, but I'm sure those first minutes are useful for further thinking).

15 seconds instead of 30 seems fine to me. And the rest will even go faster. remember the other thread, its exponential :P

No, everything is 15 seconds faster, assuming you do that. What will actually happen is that you'll run out of resources faster and will end up much less ahead.
