Dsync Detected in local replays.

Postby Gimbalt_FAF » 08 Jan 2013, 09:24

I've heard that the dsync detected during a replay happens because a player that left the game did not go through the score screen. I'm curious why that would be if it's a local replay that is stored on my computer. Wouldn't my computer have the ability to record the replay as it happened from my computers perspective. Wouldn't it be able to see that a player left the game just as if you went into Ren_shownetstats and saw that the player was not connected anymore?

Is this something that might be solvable but is just not a high enough priority? I like to watch back the games to see where I can improve. When the 1st player out rage quits for being sniped the whole replay is ruined. Units do crazy things that didn't actually happen in the game, and I really can't learn anything from it.

Nobody knows why.
The easy answer is "it's a bug in the engine", but actually nobody knows really.
If you can find out, we can fix it :)

Can we not just hide it all together. Games sometimes turn out a bit funky but at least that ugly desync popup won't be there.

A desync game means that the game you are watching is not the same that the one that was played.
Hiding it won't fix that fact.

Hiding will make you watch silly games without even knowing.

I might have some idea to debug it, but you need to open a thread in the tech forum, and get 2-3 players ready to do some testing :)

one more note to hiding the dsync window: there is a mod to hide it, you normally can notice if something is very wrong due the chat comments HOWEVER in 40% of all cases the game does not differ from the real game at all

want me me to test something = PM somewhere
