Do we need a comments section for the map vault?

Postby Raging_Squirrel » 16 Oct 2011, 23:00

The question is in the title.
I think we don't, but it's just me. So I'm asking the community ;)

Don't think it is necessary, just would be a "nice to have" feature.
I think Rating and Downloadcount is much more important than comments.

No, we dont need a comment section. But yeah, its nice to have... its nice to have downloads... its nice to have ratings and pictures and all that good stuff.

If you can do, I would like it, if you cant, well, nevermind... Im sure it will be great regardless...

i twould be good to have some kind of map rating. also some maps are bugged or cause desyncs sometimes. Maybe some mapper could fix that, if it was clear, which maps cause them and why

I wouldn't had asked if I couldn't ;)
but the question is will it have a real use? Or will it be almost untouched, like 2-3 comments per month wich noone will read?
it's not a 5-minute job, that's why I asked.

this is planned.
map rating and a capability of marking a map as broken with a detailed explanation.

Maps don't cause desyncs.... however, many maps have bugs. I think we should have a comments section to point out the broken maps and why they are broken... missing spawn points, missing hydros, unbuildable mex, way-too-high cliffs, world border conflict issues are ALL problems I've seen with maps in the vault.

the maps itself maybe doesnt cause desycns, but I had several desyncs that were obviously map related. (cos they always happened only with a certain map, for example coastal siege which i uploaded in to vault, and we tried 4 times to play it, always desync, even when all players assured to have the map out of the vault)

This is a problem from the mod author. He made two versions with the same name and version, so FA think it's the same map, but it is not.

The solution is that everybody delete it and re-take it from the vault, or make a real V2 with the one from the vault.

Ok that wasn't enough to convince me to make a comments section.
However, as I've said, there will be a capability to mark a map as broken.
