Scoring and Disconnects

In ranked play if you disconnect you get a loss. Which is good.

However, in custom games this isnt the case. I see a few players (quite often it is the same player) disconnecting right before their ACUs are killed to avoid losing points. This also keeps the winner from getting that extra point. I think this is unsportsmanlike and isnt beneficial to the community.

Also in custom games, if a player has a problem in the first few minutes, crashes, disconnects etc... and the remaining players decide to rehost the game, scores are calculated and players lose points just for leaving the game for the rehost.

Maybe a few changes could be made to the scoring system. Make disconnects in custom games count as an ACU loss. No scores are calculated if a custom game lasts less than 5 minutes or so.

I support this. One guy i drew with on a map and he wanted rehost and told me I was noob. 2nd game I was doing far better than him about 20 mins in and he disconects. Annoying as there was no way he could win. He had built 9 tmls and I had made that obslete with about 20 tmds, complete air superioroty with 100 inties and I also got T3 land and he did not. I then did a stealth T3 artilery drop on a cliff and as soon as that shell expodes his T1 pgens he disconects. He was going to lose just didnt want to lose score.

It doesn't matter. Re-read the wiki : points are for debug, it doesn't matter.

If you have one point more than him (and you will have to if he disconnects, as he will have -1), you win.
Having 0.001 more points or 1154650 more points doesn't change your final ranking at all.

So why do you show the points after the game? It is misleading.

I show them because it's a beta, and I need to know if something is wrong.
Otherwise, I wouldn't be aware of the current "auto team off" bug, for example.

That's also why you see the "you gonna fight XXXX" message on ranked. It will disappears too. All debug :)

You can edit the wiki if it's not very clear.

Any chance for a grace period at the start of custom games? I lost many points from two consecutive custom games desyncing in the first minute. We rehost as usual but the last person to leave the game gets a victory. There must be a better way. An agreed rehost by all players should result in zero net ratings changes.

i agree, the first minute should count as start time, and all games ending in this intervall should not count.
