Since the last change to ladder scoring a new playing behaviour has developed. Basically, to some players the ladder is the be all and end all so the aim is to spam as many games as possible, if you have a poor win rate say 1 in 10 it doesn’t matter so long as you can play more than 10 games for every one a player with a 100% win rate has, and you will top them. So, to climb the ladder you need to squeeze more games into your available time, which means as soon as a game doesn’t look like it is going your way, quit and search for a new one and hope you get an easier ride. As the match marker to me seems quite good then 50% of the time you should win, you just need to quit as soon as possible when you think you are going to be placed in a game that is the other 50% that you lose.
There are now players topping the ladder with over 3,000 games! I found this figure quite amazing. If you add the number of games played by the top seven players on the 1v1 ranking you still won’t break 3,000 games.
I am not saying the scoring system is wrong, just that this is an interesting side effect.
