Fantastic changes all the time with each FAF patch gradually working towards perfection, but there still some notable absentees from the battlefield. Seeing satellites, stationary arty, Soul Rippers, and all kinds of other previously never seen units in games now, but other things, despite being tweaked, are still not getting built in games. Off the top of my head:

SCUs: The top one for me must be SCUs. These got a huge amount of debate and substantial changes, but still don't seem to be worth the trouble to build. Maybe they just need a really creative player to show their true potential, or maybe they still need more work?

Engineering stations: Don't know if the Engie Mod has effected these at all, but still not seeing them.

Carriers: The 'no building while moving' engine limitation has perhaps rendered this unit un-fixable?

Strat Missile Subs: This was supposed to be the ultimate weapon in the game when Supcom was first announced (anyone remember that awesome beta pic of one multi-launching nukes?), but it remains a why bother type unit. Is there any point building these?

Air Staging Facilities. T3 Air spam is still popular, so staging facilities should still be usefull, but people still dont seem to be building them.

Rhinos: They got several tweaks over time, including the new laser tech, but Im seeing Wagners built on pure land maps, but never Rhinos?

The Tempest: Jokes aside, this got allot of changes, but still no-show. Maybe it was a unit built for a non-existent role?
*My own personal mad pipe dream is to combine the Tempest and Czar into one unit that can submerge to hid from fighters, then surface and fly over targets with its beam!

EDIT: Sorry I meant the Tempest, not the Atlantis. I do see the occasional Atlantis*


What do people think are currently the things most conspicuous by their absence?

I dunno.. I have seen a few Atlantises (albeit in Setons mainly) but I absolutely disagree with you regarding SCUs. If you haven't seen them built, you aren't playing enough big multiplayer games.

Maybe not in many 1v1s, but that doesn't mean they need change.

Aeon Sensor upgrade.

This, and Rhino and stratsubs i agree, and i'd like to see them changed asap (pip made some suggestions). There is really no need to wait another 3 month for this units that doubless need a change.

For carriers lappen had some nice suggestions in last balancepatch, but they are actually good to build air, and not too bad as AA, so i guess its not top priority. They are maybe not perfect, if they ever can be, but not useless aswell.

Air staging platforms are actually quite usefull, especcially on larger maps.

Don't know too much about the atlantis, but when i played setons i saw it quite some time.

SCUs (in last balancepatch) and Engystations (in engymod) got recently changed, and i would see how they develop before changing them again.

Blaze will be changed this patch (but i think current changes are not enough).

As Sheppard says, the UEF nano is never used at all.
It should probably get replaced for something that is actually a contender for t2/t3 engie suite.

Would be nice if some ACU upgrades get improved. You rarely see any upgrades apart from gun, engy and regen/shield.
Additional ACU upgrades which make it more viable in the late game would be pretty cool as well. It's a shame that you usually have to hide your ACU once the T3 phase starts, especially in Team games.

I agree with the others about the engystations, sACUs and strategic submarines. If the strategic submarines ever get changed, the seraphim T3 battleship should be as well since its a bit pointless for it to have the nuke-production capability considering it is a unit that has to be used offensively.
For the sACU, I would recommend reducing the cost of the quantum-gateway or the production time of the sACU.

Another unit that could use a change is the T3 artillery. It is pretty ineffective for its cost, easily countered and subsequently building experimentals is simply a much better alternative.
For the price of one T3 artillery, you could build 3 monkeylords/fatboys or 105 to 450 T2 shields, depending on your faction.

Mass fabricators are also rarely built, but that's positive in my opinion. Making mass fabricators more effective would reduce the value of mass deposits and promote turtling.

If the UEF want options for engineer arm, move the gun to that space and have the current gun arm be RAS and Nano like current cybran.

Do air-staging facilities provide free repairs to aircraft?

Mass fabs need a buff imho. They are not any more efficient than t2 mass fabs, and are more expensive. It currently takes 2 t3 pgens to power 1 t3 mass fab (2-3 times as much as 12 t2 mass fabs would need). This seems wrong to me, as t3 should be more efficient.
