From the beginning of RTS people have been looking for ways to make the allied players as connected to eachother as possible without killing the game.
From the beginning of Supcom people have said, wouldn't it be nice if we could give control of a single force to two different players, the actual implementation of this has never been achieved(as far as I know). Something where one player controls the economy and the other players micros the units, would be quite fun.
I think the simplest way to do this is to connect the economies of two different players in the following way:
In the current version of Supcom FA if a player has excess mass or energy beyond storage capacity, it is shared among the allies, if they have space in storage.
If the threshold for mass energy transfer to allies was set to 100 mass and 5000 power (or some other numbers) instead of maximum storage capacity it would make a strong connection between the two economies.
Example: Both players expand, capture mexes, etc. Then one of the playere recieves all the mexes from the other(manually) and focuses on creating the economy, while the other player focuses on producing factories and microing units. The player with no mexes would get mass automatically from the ally whenever that ally let their mass go above 100 in storage.
Example: An ally needs to rush an experimental, just pause all your engineers and factories and your ally can use your mass directly.
I think this would be a useful tool to teach new players by introducing them to different parts of the game separately.
For example a pro/noob vs pro/noob 2v2, where the noobs either go head to head in micro or eco.
I think it is important to leave the mass extractor transfer manual to allow for more possibilities and of course mumble is very useful here.
This seems very simple to make, maybe someone can give it a shot.
(If this already exists, please let me know I think it would be very useful for training purposes)
