Is there any chance we can make the latancy only show up for connections over 500ms? Sick of getting kicked in lobby coz my ping is 350.

AFAIK there is a netlag of 500ms built into game and anything over that is not noticed in game...

I am in australia... on a stable connection attenuation on my ADSL line is about 20db about 15mbit down 3mbit up. running on cisco router (887M) and cisco 3750G switch. But due to my distance latancy is often between 200 and 400 ms depending on who I am connecting to. Have never had LAG unless connecting through the proxy due to the double hop increased latancy.

I agree with this. You're correct about the enforced 500 ms ping and there are still idiots who put the less than 400 ping in the title.

Annex M gives more than 1 mb up... Not offered by all ISPs tho... You give up some download speed to get upload speed...

Either way bandwidth used by Supcom is pretty minimal...

Cool, I need to look into this.

Also, I know your problem. Australian internet is a pain, especially to russians

Would love to see the Ping indicator show as numbers rather than have a bar...

That used to be the case, but we had idiots left right and centre kicking anyone with ping over 100... Some people just don't understand the whole 500ms thing.

Perhaps once the CPU ratings are fixed we could look at fixing the ping / latancy rating. Or at least changing the way it displays? Perhaps it is worth putting packetloss there as well as latancy. Do we need jitter? Or just show latency over 450?

Measured Latency - 450 = latency score (cannot go below 0)

Packet loss 0-2% good
2-5% OK
5-10 bad
10+ unplayable?

Not sure on how resilient supcom is to packet loss so above figures may need to be tweaked.

Maybe the above is too complicated and we just need a tool tip that states that under 500 is not noticed as that is built into the game?

I'd at least like the option or maybe be able to set filters preventing someone from joining if their connection wasn't up to par.

Better yet... Base the ping from the user to the FAF server instead of from player to player. Least this way there is a common point of reference that everyone can use. Currently ping ratings are very much open to allot of interpretation and this causes so much drama while the groups are forming.
