1) Why did someone give all newbs 1500 rating?
2) Why doesn't the 1v1 ladder count towards GLOBAL (notice how I'm CAPITALIZING GLOBAL) rating anymore?

Why did you ask two questions that don't have an amazing answer?
Really they both boil down to preference. Rating 'starting' at 1500 is an arbitrary choice. I think it's too high, but it's fixed within 5 matches so w/e.
The second one was no longer deemed appropriate. I don't know a lot about this change actually... but zep is tweaking ranking right now so that's likely the reason for that.
I'm sure people have better answers, but both questions are really just personal preference by the way of zep. :/

I think 1500 is a little high (something like 1000 would be more appropriate I think), but this does fix some e-peen problems.

ZeP, you are not accomplishing anything by giving 0 newbs 1500. All that's going on now is that people who see 1500 rating with 0 games get automatically kicked. Also, this severly unbalances game and confuses the shit out of everyone because we don't know who deserves their 1500.

as far as i know, guy with 0 games have undefined rating, so whatever rating he have it is ok...

The 1500 was supposed to prevent 0's from getting kicked. What I see now is that they get kicked even faster. "How did you smurf your way to 1500 with 0 games?" [kick]
