giving up

usually, when I come to the conclusion that a game is lost, I give up (gg, ctrl+k). I sometimes get the impression that this behaviour is not appreciated very much. Of course, I could just walk afk, go for a smoke and then come back to the finished game. However, it seems to me that walking afk is no less rude than giving up^^ and additionally, since I am married, my gaming time is kind of precious and I don't want to waste it just like that. Interestingly, on other strategy games (like..say chess) imho it is considered bad practice to continue a game that is clearly lost and thus forcing your superior opponent to waste his time with finishing you...

What is your opinion on that matter?

PS: I mostly play 1v1 rated games

Like you, my time is very precious, I can't be arsed to waste it. Sometimes I wanna do it as well when game is clearly won, but some idiots are still experts at dragging games out. Late game lag not helping there

A better solution is to transfer all units to your friends and go afk ^^

I am not sure what time is needed, until the transferred units don't die if you die.

PS.: Some people use that as tactic.
Transfer all and make telemazer.

Problem with transferring units to friends is that I mostly play 1v1

general consensus until now seems to be that I am not doing something terrible by giving up a lost game.... something I am happy to read^^

Get a t2 transporter and go for a suicide mission with your commander

Don't mind about people flaming on the fact you ctrl k(if the game is REALLY lost though, don't ctrl because you think it's over whereas it's not). Tbh I don't like when games are longer than it should be (for example is game is obviously lost, but the guy tries to survive as much as he can, by spamming t2 pd and so on...I would prefer to play another game instead)

Yes better giving up than make the game last artificially longer. You see this a lot in game like Starcraft 2, where people lift their buildings and hide them in map corners...

although it would be a bit annoying if he could kill you in 12 seconds and you ctrl k before hand... that would be poor form

I reckon ctrl k if its going to take >1 mins to die
