Testing Times balance discussions

Hello all. Please use replays from the Testing Times tournament here to discuss the balance of the next patch, which includes some hitbox changes, reclaim ground, equal engy rolloff for all factories of some tech level. Turnout has been... underwhelming, so I will rehost this tournament at a later date with cash prizes, because that's the only way to make you tightarses play it seems :P. Re-hosting also gives us a chance to get rid of some of the bugs in the balance mod.

For the heroes that have started the tournament today, if you complete all your games AND participate in the next tourney, you will get a tourney participant cash prize as a thank you from me on top of anything you win :).

I was advertising in aeolus, you might not have been online at the start time though. And people were posting loads so I'd have had to spam and get banned to get really noticed :(

Ground reclaim worked fine for me! Have to watch the replays if the commands are set up in an efficient way...but if I want to reclaim after a battle i just pick an engi, zoom out, and click 4 times where the wrecks are....thats really nice.

In the replay the chatmessages doubled...and the eco was somehow not displayed correctly.

Auroras did shoot at Acu with head out of water...but they missed.

Yup, there's some bugs with the mod you guys used due to two patches getting pushed on the server just recently - this created some little bugs and desyncs and the guys pulling allnighters to do patches were also the guys who were helping with the mod. It'll be polished next time and you'll be up for a tourney participant cash prize :).

Ok couple of things:

1- The mod caused all my games to desync at the start but afterwards the game was fine, I dont think anyone else's games were doing this so it may be the fact that my FAF crashed when it finished downloading.

2- The ground reclaim will be as harmful as it is helpful and i would like an option to disable it if possible. My theory is that BO's that require specific reclaim (like reclaiming all the rocks somewhere) will fail due to the area reclaim mod deciding it would be a good idea to reclaim all the trees there too. Now we can argue all day as to whether less BO whoring is a good thing, but the fact it is inadvertently affected should be taken into account. That being said I'm not too bothered about it, my manual reclaim was fine before although with trees it is significantly sped up. However, in my match on Loki (was only a couple of mins so wont bother posting the replay) I select a few of the very thin trees to reclaim (started in top right) on my way down to the hydro as well as some of the clumps of trees, now the problem here was that it selected all the little trees to reclaim and it took my engie ages to get through them all one at a time and this is something that will also affect BO's.

3- If it isn't possible to toggle the reclaim mod, is there some where to change the priority of it to only select certain types of reclaim such as: only rocks/wrecks, only trees, only clumped trees, only clumped trees/wrecks.

On point 2, remember you can still zoom in and pick out the rocks if you want to do it old school. Personally I love the feature, more time thinking about winning less time spamming reclaim, and I don't think it would ruin any of my personal builds. But it's a good point, I wonder if we can have a toggle given apparently there is goig to be a way to do it with RK explosions.

not having to click every single rock seems pretty awesome to me, I don't see what's OP about it

The fact that with 10 clicks you get 100 rocks instead of 10 rocks? I didn't see it in action yet, but it seems pretty clear to me. There's a whole lot of problems with it that have been stated in a previous thread, look there for more information ^^
