Multiple Attack Selection Possible?!

Postby FirstSpeaker » 19 Dec 2014, 15:41

Hi guys,

Please look at the next dog-fight. Dark green has about 115 asfs whereas Yellow has around 150.
What's interesting about the situation is that the yellow player seems to use some kind of "select area" attack. At one point at the video clip, you can see that about 30-40 of the dark-green's asfs are being selected.
The result was like that: dark-green lost all of his asfs, whereas yellow lost only 20 asfs.

Can anyone explain or confirm that area attack exist? did the yellow player use some kind of cheating?

Thanks!!!

Here is a link to the whole scene (1080p on youtube)
Since I'm new at the forum - I cannot directly link the video... so in order to see the actual video either use an online reverse string on the next string
EUOCoAXGqsM=v?hctaw/moc.ebutuoy.www//:sptth

Or just concatenate the next string to the the basic Youtube URL in your browser
/watch?v=MsqGXAoCOUE

First off yes this is possible but I doubt there's anything commonly available unless someone recently created a mod for this. Second I think the ASF's took a significant amount of damage by flying over the opposing armies Navy. At least that's what I can conclude from the 30 second video that you posted.

Looks like Yellow used shift+G command. It will split the attacks of the units in the selected group onto as many units targeted with shift+G.

To use it, shift click many targets, then click G, the orders will be then splitted automatically.

If it was shift+G - you would have seen multiple red lines towards the green's asfs.
Instead, you only see multiple asfs being targeted.

So I think its not the shift+G option

Anyway - the question really is how Yellow select so many asfs to attack. It wasn't manually, in my opinion...

Any SIM side mod would be required for all players so if he is using a mod, it's gotta be UI based.

I checked the replay, the spread attack simcallback seems to not have been called during the game.

So what's your conclusion? Do you also think that the video shows an odd phenomenon?

I'll do some more digging when I have time for it -- if it's a UI mod and I didn't somehow miss the callbacks, there should be an unnatural APM spike.

I'll note that a UI mod to do this is theoretically possible, and given the many years this game has been out I'm surprised we don't have any in the vault.

Sheeo, by chance do replays list the installed mods used during the match? If not this could be something worth adding to help in cheat investigation / prevention.
