Nudge/Alarm button

Postby Suspect » 03 Apr 2012, 17:29

Just an idea...

When playing games with multiple players, it is quite common for people to go afk, and (especially when its slow) go off and do something else whilst waiting. We then end up with, for example, 7/8 players all readied-up (x'd-in) whilst one guy is up taking a shit or whatever.

One advantage of FAF is that it makes a noise when you PM someone in chat. My question is, could we have a "nudge" button added, that makes an alarm sound for these players to return to their computer asap?

Thanks

This would be abused to no end, lol.

But yeah, that's one of the reasons, as you mentioned, FAF pm makes a noise. If somebody is away from their computer though, all you can really do is kick them. We could make FAF light up their monitor like the 4th of July but if the guy left the room, it's gonna be for moot.... Also, we have a teamspak channel you can use to yell at people :-p

if it would be in, only the host should be able to make the warning, and only once every 30 sec
then it would be an awesome feature imo.

You say it would be abused. How so? You mean people would just annoy others by clicking it all the time? I dont really see the problem

it could be restricted for use only when in lobby (one sword) and only by your game mates

That's rather easy to implement, actually. But why not just write them a PN? That will make a sound... :P
I waited ten years for Supreme Commander (1997-2007)
and have not a single day felt disappointed with it!

This has been a dream for many people for many years. I suggest making the alarm dependent on how long a player has been afk. The longer they make everybody wait, the louder and more obscene the alarm should be. Everything from "wake up" to "hope your cat dies crossing the street".

LMAO!

Is there any way to add new taunts in game? I'd love to hear Brackman say this, oh yes!

So Thygrrr, are you willing to look into add this function to FAF? so far people seem to think its a good idea. I dont mind just sending people a PN but the noise is only noticeable if you are in the same room. Perhaps a good compromise is to just make the sound more noticeable?
